Naylor Announces Acquisition of the Southern Building Show

Gainesville, Florida - Nov 5, 2007 – Naylor, LLC – North America’s leading media and events partner for associations – announced today that it has closed the acquisition of the Southern Building Show, a leading regional trade show and educational event that serves home builders and others allied to the home and general building and construction market.  The event is held annually in Atlanta with the 2008 event scheduled for June 11-13 at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

Naylor also announced that the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (HBA) and the Home Builders Association of Georgia (HBAG) have agreed to partner with Naylor in all aspects of the event, particularly the development of educational programming, attendee marketing and promotion and outreach to exhibitors.

The event will be managed by Naylor/CMG – Naylor’s Fairfax, Virginia-based event management division, which currently manages 10 other events, all of which are owned by trade associations. Naylor/CMG also recently revealed that they have been appointed to manage the Greater Washington Builders Expo, which is owned jointly by the Maryland-National Capital and Northern Virginia Building Industry Associations.

The Southern Building Show was acquired from event co-founders PJ and Ken Kanline, who launched the show 12 years ago. The Kanlines will remain involved in the event as consultants to the Naylor/CMG team.

“This is an exciting acquisition for Naylor,” said Alex DeBarr, President & CEO of Naylor. “It deepens our involvement in the home building market, where we have relationships with more than 30 associations. Our partnership with the HBA and HBAG is a key element as it will enable us to take what the Kanlines have built to a new level of value and importance to attendees and exhibitors, particularly the members of the HBA, HBAG and other local home builders association’s members throughout the southeast.”

PJ Kanline said, “We are thrilled to see the show go to Naylor and look forward to working with them and the HBA and HBAG to continue building value to all participants. We’ve loved the relationships we’ve built with the associations, attendees and exhibitors, and we thank them for the great support they’ve provided us over the years.”

With an exhibit hall that showcases the most current building products and services available in the market combined with the cutting edge education programming, the Southern Building Show has earned a reputation as one of the housing industry’s top overall educational experiences, particularly for those who do business in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and North and South Carolina.

Despite the current home building slow down, attendance at the 2007 event was up 15% and exhibit sales were on par with 2006. “We believe this is due in part to the strength of the event and need for builders to seek new information and education during downturns in their business,” said Mike Muldoon, Executive VP of Naylor/CMG. John Russell, a veteran of Naylor/CMG who has managed a number of trade shows and events for association partners, will be Show Manager for the Southern Building Show.
